I like to think I’m pretty in touch with what projects are in development for big stars like Adam Driver. That being said, I had heard absolutely nothing about 65 prior to yesterday and today a unexpected banger of a trailer dropped. When this trailer began the absolute last place I envisioned this trailer going was Adam Driver and some kid fighting off dinosaurs 65 million years ago. If anything this film is going to make us think that maybe Richard Linklater was on to something…

The film comes from the writing and directing team of Bryan Woods and Scott Beck, the writers behind the A Quiet Place franchise. Looking at IMBb the only cast members listed are Driver, Ariana Greenblatt (Avengers: Infinity War), and Chloe Coleman (Big Little Lies) so it looks like this is very much going to be a man vs. dinosaur sci-fi survival film. It’s certainly an unexpected role for someone like Driver but then again he is one of the rangiest actors working today and seeing him in a film like this doesn’t feel as out of place as someone like Adrien Brody in Predators. Plus A Quiet Place is one of the more legitimate horror franchises to emerge in the last decade or so so I have a pretty good feeling that this could be an under-the-radar hit next year. The only shame is that this film wasn’t named “Adam Driver and Eve”.

65 premieres in theaters on March 10th.
